My newest favorite thing is my Kindle.  If you've never seen one before and you read voraciously, it's worth checking out.  I can instantly upload books to it for less than 10 dollars, even without an internet connection (it's like a phone so as long as I can get cell phone service I can buy books) and there are tons of books to be gotten for free!  That's how they hook you.  I let them because I can't seem to wait for books to come out in paperback, and paying close to $25 for a hardback seems like a waste of money now.  I love the size of it and how easy it is to use, and I honestly forget that I'm not actually holding a book.  When I fall asleep at night it goes to sleep too, but saves my place, and it fits in most of purses without having to remove Brighton sunglass cases or inhalers.  I always have something to read, and my nightstand isn't overflowing anymore.  It can even read to me, but the voices are weird and annoying.  It stays charged for days, and has a simple wall charger.  If I can't recall who a certain character is, I can do a search and find each place he/she is mentioned.  It has Wikipedia and the Oxford American Dictionary at the touch of a button, so I don't have to guess what the "grown up" words mean.  It even keeps a running percentage at the bottom to let me know how far into the book I've read.  I got a lovely red leather cover for it so I can be sure not to scratch it among my keys and such stuff that it may come into contact with.  I'm waiting to find out if there's any way I can still share books with others, but until then, Anne has to get her books from another supplier!
