My mom and my biological father got divorced when I was very young. In 1981, my mom married Tony, the most wonderful dad I could have ever wished for.Anyway, when Daddy (Tony) and Mom got married, Daddy started calling me Sarah, too. Daddy, however, is from North Carolina. "Sarah" comes out sounding like "Sayrie."
It has always been my favorite nickname because it is a combination of both my parents, and it's always said with love. When I miss home, hearing Daddy say "Sayrie" makes everything a little better.
Does the name still fit? I am an emotional person, and logic very rarely plays a part in my decisions or reactions to others. I try to keep my outbursts on the inside, and I do fairly well, unless I'm talking to Pat. Let's face it, isn't that where all my biggest emotions are? The intense love, respect, connection, etc that you have with the love of your life is typically fraught with emotions. Sorry, Pat. I guess you need to start calling me Sayrie, too. Or, since you're from Arlington, Sarah will do.
