We were at Wegmans today, shopping for dinner. Cam had asked for salad, yes, he really did. So we got some carrots, a cucumber, white dip (aka Ranch dressing), and a head of iceburg lettuce. Cameron shared with me that one day when he was a dad and didn't live with us anymore (there is an end in sight...) that he wanted to bite into a head of lettuce, just like it was an apple.
So, of course, doing anything I can NOT to lose the "Mommy of the Year" award so early in the running, I allowed him to have some lettuce before I shredded it for the salad spinner. Sam saw the camera come out and wanted in on the action, even though she NEVER asks for salad... :-)
As I'm taking these pictures I remember the years of fighting with the two of them to take a "No, thank you" bite (this means that they have to eat a decent sized bite of whatever we're offering, and after SWALLOWING it, have the opportunity to say, "No, thank you" when asked if they'd like some more). Now Sam will eat it, without dressing, when we make her, and Cam actually asks for it sometimes, especially when Pat or I have it at restaurants.
Ahhhh, it's so good to see that we might be doing SOMETHING right, and I didn't lose the "MOTY" award til bedtime!
