Eureka!

Cameron's DSi has been missing for about 3 weeks now, and we've turned the house upside down numerous times to find it. Sam has been looking too, since her dad told her that if she finds it she can have the shoes that she wants from Target but doesn't need. (See? Proof that is is DEFINITELY mine.)

As I cleaned up after the kids' snow gear search, I found the DSi in the pocket of a coat that had been unknowingly buried in the back of the coat closet. While most of us were thrilled, Sam felt the sting of disappointment as she realized that those shoes wouldn't be gracing her feet anytime soon...

That explains my day...

Fridays are typically a beautiful thing; I sleep a little later, and I get to wear jeans to work, and the last Friday of the month we have a staff breakfast. The school day is a bit more relaxed as we complete assignments from the week and get ready for the next.

Today, however, was a different story. I woke up MUCH later than usual, and didn't get to dry my hair or apply makeup. All day long, from colleagues and students I heard, "Are you ok? You look like you don't feel good."

I can't explain why I felt the need to complete the MESSY project today, or why I wanted to cry when, after spending FOREVER talking with the kids about how globes and world maps work, the students wanted me to show them what was on the BACK of the world.

The kids were even chattier than usual, and I spent most of the day putting out fires with one student in particular. This resulted in no break for lunch, a limited planning period, and having to explain to the AP why her office floor was covered with yellow feathers ("They're 'lil fellas, Mrs. P.").

Add to that the fits that two other students threw at the end of the day and the grumpy moods of my own two darlings, I was not at all surprised when Sam took a picture and suggested that it be my "picture of the day"...

A Beautiful Sight

It has been so long since I've been able to scrapbook on a regular basis; now that I'm getting together with a couple of friends on Wednesday nights, I am enjoying the anticipation of a desk covered with photos between scrap sessions. (Can you find my Project Life book?) However, since I only have 1 desk, I'll have to clean it up before the upcoming (dreaded) report card weekend. If only I had room for another desk...

A McQuillan Constant

Sam received Elefante from Uncle Ray and Auntie Srima when she was born. While his name was changed to Baby E when Cam was born, he has been her ever-present companion for over 10 years now, and is showing his age. She takes him almost everywhere, and is genuinely distraught when he's misplaced at bedtime. Tonight Sam and Baby E enjoyed a little cuddle while watching iCarly.

If I didn't have to work...

Crocheting is one of my favorite ways to relax these days. I get the kids to bed, do my schoolwork, then let myself complete a couple of rows before my Kindle and bedtime. I'm making mostly scarves these days since I don't know how to do anything but straight rows, but I love that I don't have to use any brain power to do it and it satisfies my need to multi-task while I watch tv.

(Project) Life has begun!

I placed my order on Saturday, and the expected delivery date was posted as tomorrow...Yeah, me!
