Our visit with the Zirkles

Oklahoma 09

Another family summer tradition is a two-week trip to see my parents.  The kids love playing in the pool and spending time with Omega.  This year was no exception.  We had lots of fun at Andy Alligator's (a fun park), we saw G-Force with Grandmommy, we shopped lots, and we got to see Auntie Allie and Uncle Jess!  We took a trip to Urgent Care one morning when we couldn't get control over Cam's asthma cough, but some steroids and antibiotics, along with a new inhaler, took care of that in no time!  Unfortunately, my SD card that contains these pictures is missing; as soon as I find it I'll post pictures.

Ocean Isle 09

Every year we go to the beach with Anne and her family.  Sometimes the husbands join us, but they can't always make it.  This year we joined Kathryn and her children in Ocean Isle over the week of July 4th. 

 

 

Anne's visit

Anne and the kids came to visit for the last week of June.  They haven't seen each other in awhile, but you wouldn't know it from watching the kids play.  I don't know what they were doing during that last picture.

Basketball Camp

Sam had a great time at basketball camp.  Her team won the division championship!

Sam was excited to get a camp t-shirt to wear for the week.


The gym at Battlefield High looked overwhelming to me when we first walked in. I stayed for a while to make sure she was ok. She came over at one point to ask me how long I was going to stay. I told her I'd stay as long as she wanted me to. She asked me to please go home. And that was that.


The camp was sorted by skill into divisions, then teams. Sam was a player for Duke. Pat and I pretended that it said "Dukes" (as in JMU) instead of Duke University. Her team did very well and ended up winning the championship for her division!

Life is good

We've been very busy this summer: Sam had a week of basketball camp, Anne and the kids spent a week with us before we all left for the beach with Kathryn, and now we're in Oklahoma enjoying the fun and the sun. We'll be back on the 28th, and we don't leave again until August 7th. Actually, I'm leaving on the 7th for a weekend in Sandbridge with the girls. We'll get back on the 9th, then the kids and I will leave for Anne's on the 10th. We'll be back around the 17th or so, and then I get to work in my classroom! At the beginning of summer I counted the number of days that we'd be home, with no plans: 11 days. All summer long. Playdates and inservices have been scheduled since then, bringing the number down to about 6...I love my summer-times!
